How to use the smart TVs at Cedars’ Edge
Cedars’ Edge comes equipped with four Fire TVs. These smart TVs will give you access to your own premium channels and streaming services, as well as apps offering free television.
To get started, you will need to sign in with your Amazon account. If you aren't immediately prompted when you turn the TV on, go to the home screen, which you can access via the home button on the remote. Select the gear icon, then the "account and profile settings" option. Here you will see an option to register the TV to your Amazon account. Use your existing account, which is tied to your payment settings, or create a new one. Amazon will save your viewing profiles to your account, so any time you register a Fire TV or Fire TV stick to your account, you will see the same profiles, apps, etc. The benefit of this approach is that it lets you deregister the TV at the end of your stay at Cedars’ Edge and take all your info with you.
If you haven't used a Fire TV before, you will next need to add one or more profiles. Otherwise, your existing profiles will display. Choose one.
The TVs here don't talk to each other, so you will need to repeat the process of registering and selecting a profile for any TVs you plan to use in the house.
Once you have a profile selected, you will want to download your apps.
Downloading apps
Now click the home button on your remote to get back to the home screen and select the app center from the menu (see image above).
Browse or search for your favorite apps. Download and access them from the home screen. If you want to search for different types of content to view, use the "find" button. This will allow you to search by genre, type of content (movie, TV), free versus paid, etc.
There are a large number of excellent free apps. Also, your cable provider likely has a streaming service that allows you to access their content.
At the end of your stay…
When your stay at Cedars’ Edge is over, removing your personal information from the Fire TVs you used is as easy as deregisterimg the TV from your account.
Deregistering:
Go to settings and then “account and profile settings."
Under “Amazon Account”, you should see your name. Click the select button to deregister the device.
Do this with each TV you registered at Cedars’ Edge.
Please note that you will need to follow this process with each TV, or log out remotely from the Amazon site/app.
Logging out remotely:
Log in to your Amazon account on Amazon.com.
Under your name at the top of the screen, click “account and lists” (you need to click the header, not just hover).
Click where it says “Your devices and content.”
On the next screen, click “manage devices.”
Select the devices you want to log out of.
Click on “actions,” then “deregister.”
Please note: we are not responsible for any purchases made to your account if you fail to remove your profile from the TVs at Cedars’ Edge. Housekeeping does not check the TVs. However, the owner will do regular maintenance and remove any profiles that were left accidentally.
